LOOOOOOL.

OK.

This week was a serious turn of events.

On Wednesday I had a preliminary interview / call with ‘The Trades College’. Followed by a second call the next day where I received full course info and was offered a spot.

THANKFULLY, I didn’t immediately accept there and enrol. I called my Dad the next morning to get his opinion on the course and he felt like it was too good to be true and it gave him an off feeling.

He thought it was a scam…. I was sooooo thrown off by him saying this, I just thought it was a really weird n random take on it all. Nothing, nothing, NOTHING, nothing at all felt weird to me, BUT, my dad is one smart cookie so I obviously looked into it.

What did I find?

‘SCAM, SCAM SCAM’

‘AVOID AT ALL COSTS’

‘AVOID, AVOID, AVOID’

I felt, and still feel, like a fucking idiot. I had 2 video calls with this ‘course advisor’ - on an online booking system by the way, it wasn’t just a FaceTime or anything.

I was on video calls with this guy for a total of 2.5 hours. The first was in a cafe but the second was in my home. This man looked into my eyes, asked SOOOO much emotionally personal information about me (to gain my trust) and watched me get so excited about this course.

I feel like this man has been in my home.

If I’m really honest I feel insanely embarrassed that this has happened, and it’s taking a LOT for me to share about it. But I promised myself I’d blog every Sunday and this is what’s happened this week lol. So better to just be honest I guess?

Evil exists. I don’t know how any human can spend hours talking to another human, looking into their eyes, lying, manipulating, abusing. To attempt to con them for money. It’s insane.

I’m only trying to become a bloody sparky, who’d have thought there was a scamming pool within that?! Lesson learnt, move on.

Aside from that, I’ve been putting together social media pitch decks to outreach to local electric companies in hopes to land a client where I can freelance for them 1 day a week. This will give me a great insight into the industry while finding my feet with finding a (real) college course. It will also create a revenue stream for me within the trade from the offset, allow me to build connections, provide me with content for this blog etc.

So wish me luck with that! I’ll be outreaching this week and hopefully getting some meetings booked in.

I have another day with my sparky mate this week, not sure which day yet as he needs to play it by ear but I’m really looking forward to another day working and learning :)

Have a great week ahead. Stay curious! x #thefemalesparky #electrician #electriciancourse
